MARS

 20,00

MARS is an ironic work for euphonium and tape, humorously questioning the space programs of both private entities and governments. As musicians, we are used to occasional questions from this quarter about the relevance of art. MARS is therefore more of a ‘cheeky’ rebuttal than a serious protest against space programs.

The composer constructs a kind of rocket from the euphonium in the piece, which starts with a natural sound but gradually transforms into a kind of super-euphonium through accelerated and transposed samples. Apart from the voice samples, all the sound comes from processed euphonium sounds, eventually becoming almost unrecognizable. Just like humanity in our rockets?
